SERMACS 2009 - ACS Exams Institute

ACS Exams

Assessment and Testing - How can ACS Exams help you with this component of your teaching?

The focus group will be held on Thursday at 9:00 am, October 22 in room #206 of the Puerto Rico Convention Center.

The ACS Exams Institute will be holding a focus group on Thursday morning at SERMACS to speak with educators about how they construct tests, and how the Institute might be able to provide materials that help teachers with this process. This focus group is part of a needs assessment project so that the Institute can identify the types of materials that chemistry faculty members would find the most useful in helping them build better exams and assessment programs.

In the focus group you will be able to:

  • talk with other instructors and members of the Exams Institute staff about how you build tests
  • identify ways that you think about testing as a form of measurement and ways to minimize errors in those measurements.
  • identify terminology used in test development scholarship that may prove helpful in understanding how to construct improved exams.

Because this focus group is part of a National Science Foundation funded project, participants may request partial reimbursement of their costs for attendance at SERMACS.
